Pinterest was the #1 platform for inspiration. The problem: no one knew you could shop there, even as they were making huge investments into the e-commerce side of the platform. We didn’t just need to drive awareness that people could shop on Pinterest—we needed to create a whitespace for why people would shop there instead of doing the easy thing and just heading to Amazon.

Hence the campaign “Gift Like You Get Them.” Funny, bite-sized stories about good intentions gone awry, and how easy it is to be thoughtful with Pinterest. This stuff performed like a dream: 300% over target KPI’s. When the folks at market research presented the results, the team thought it was a typo.
